 Susan B. Martinez is a Jewish Brooklyn-born independent scholar who earned her doctorate in Anthropology at Columbia University, specializing in Ethnolinguistics. Her fieldwork took her to the Guajiro Indians of South America. By the late 1970s the urban/intellectual/agnostic lifestyle could not hold her, and she set out on her quest, crowned in 1981 by her discovery of Oahspe and Modern Spiritualism.
After living and traveling in India and Afghanistan, she settled back in the States – New Jersey, Washington, D.C., Ozark mountains and Kansas City – and became the mother of two children, Alex and Lili. Since the 1990s, she has worked as a prison liaison/mentor, peace activist, and freelance writer.
The only living biographer of Dr. John Ballou Newbrough, amanuensis of the Oahspe bible, Dr. Martinez is among a handful of international experts on 19th century spiritualism which claims to mark the inauguration of a new era in the life of man. As a researcher/writer of the paranormal, she has lectured and written on: ghost-cold, MPD (multiple personality disorder), the afterlife, cosmogony, angelology, prehistory, the New Science, and numerous aspects of psi.
She has worked as newsletter and study course editor (Lodge Publications), teacher, and art dealer. She is also an award-winning jewelry designer, award-winning poet, and literacy volunteer.
Currently Book Review Editor at the Academy of Spirituality and Paranormal Studies, Dr. Martinez lives in the quiet north Georgia mountains. Popular radio personality and guest columnist, Martinez is the author of The Psychic Life of Abraham Lincoln and the Time Of The Quickening.
